Advice needed for a struggling postgraduate engineer. Last May I received a PhD in an engineering field that is interdisciplinary. I had always planned to go straight into industry after graduation hopefully in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry. I have some work experience and internships, but with the economy being what it is, I haven't been successful. So now I've been pursuing postdocs but I haven't found much luck with that either. My problem is a)many people don't recognize/understand what my degree is or can do, b)because my degree was mostly unfunded I was only able to attend part-time so my time to graduation is lengthy. c)I don't have stellar credentials. What can I do to save my career before it's too late?
